Joshua Godwin

Joshua Godwin is the Chief Legal Officer of The InterSpace Group, leading legal and business affairs across the Group's divisions, including InterSpace Distribution and ToneGrid. Joshua oversees the contracts, licensing, and compliance that everything else at the Group rests on.

The remit spans artist and label agreements, distribution and platform contracts, intellectual-property and rights matters, data protection, and corporate governance across every division. On the InterSpace Distribution side, Joshua makes sure the terms offered to artists and labels are fair and clear, and that the company meets its obligations to the creators and platforms it works with across 200+ services. On the ToneGrid side, he oversees the partner and tenant agreements, API terms, and licensing frameworks that let labels and sub-distributors run their own white-label distribution business on InterSpace's infrastructure.

Beyond contracts, Joshua's office covers the wider legal function a group at this scale needs: data protection and privacy compliance across the territories the Group operates in, intellectual-property protection for the Group's platforms and brands, employment and corporate governance matters, and legal support for new partnerships, market entry, and corporate transactions as the business grows.

A central part of the role is protecting artists through the paperwork. Independent creators have often signed away more than they realized; Joshua's work is to keep the Group's agreements plain-language and artist-friendly, so that ownership and control stay where they belong.

Joshua also handles the legal side of the Group's growth: new markets, new partnerships, rights disputes, and the compliance requirements that come with operating across multiple territories and business models, so the business can expand without putting artists, partners, or the company at risk.

The aim throughout is protection and clarity: agreements creators and partners can actually understand, and a legal foundation strong enough for the Group to scale on.
