Eric Okechukwu

Eric Okechukwu is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of InterSpace Distribution, the music distribution and technology company he founded in 2021 and built out of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He leads the company's mission to democratize access to the global music market, giving independent African artists and labels the tools, reach, and support they need to compete on the world stage while keeping full ownership of their work.

Under his leadership, InterSpace has grown from a small team of ten into a platform serving more than 20,000 independent artists, who together generate over a million streams every month and reach audiences across 200+ digital streaming platforms worldwide. The company's services span distribution, release promotion, content and rights management, royalty administration, marketing, analytics, artist development, publishing, and label services.

A music-technology entrepreneur, Eric has spent his career making the business of music understandable and accessible, turning rights management, royalty distribution, and digital operations into something an independent artist can actually use. “We understand the challenges and opportunities facing artists and labels in today's dynamic music landscape,” he says. “We have established ourselves as a trusted partner and ally for musicians of all genres and backgrounds.”

Beyond distribution, Eric has expanded the InterSpace brand across the wider music ecosystem — from InterSpace Sound System, whose ISS Radio station is changing the narrative for African DJs, to monthly royalty reporting that brought new transparency to how Nigerian artists are paid. In 2024 he opened InterSpace's dedicated office in Port Harcourt, deepening the company's roots in the city where it began.

His work and the company's growth have been featured by The Guardian, Vanguard, Techeconomy, and Leadership, among others. Based in Port Harcourt, Eric continues to build InterSpace as the independent side of the African music industry. “Our core mission,” he explains, “is to create an accessible and easy-to-use platform for Nigerian artists and labels to explore the technology of music distribution.”
